Philippine's easiest turmeric tea recipe


Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated turmeric. Ground turmeric can be swapped if fresh cannot be found.

  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • The juice and zest of 1 lemon

  • 1/4 cup of raw honey. Highly recommend to check out our friends at Sierra Madre in Quezon City here

  • 4 teaspoons water


Method:

This is so easy!

  1. Peel and grate the ginger and turmeric. Personally, the easiest way to peel these is by using a teaspoon! Another tip from experience, for grating the turmeric, I highly recommend to wear gloves, as the natural pigment will stain your hands and clothes. Nonetheless, if this happens, do not fret as it can be easily removed by using common household items found here.

  2. Place both in your jar. Add the 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Do not leave this vital ingredient out, as black pepper will help your body absorb all the beneficial nutrients.

  3. Add your lemon juice, zest and 4 teaspoons of water.

  4. Mix it all together and use when needed.




To make the Turmeric and Ginger Tea:

Simply mix 1 teaspoon of your awesome paste with a cup of hot water. Don't use boiling water, let it cool down for a few minutes as the heat will kill off all the natural benefits of the honey. Simply stir and sip!

Mix it with fresh orange juice for a refreshing immunity boost!


Too hot for tea?

If you crave something a little more refreshing, you can mix 1 teaspoon of your immunity boosting Turmeric and Ginger paste with a glass of cold-pressed orange juice. Just 1 teaspoon will go a long way as it is potent and rich in flavor!
